That is a good point, Ed. If there are differing views among APCOM members, please raise them now so we can discuss and come to consensus. If not, we will revise the description of what we are voting on to read as follows.

Dear ApCom Members,

As discussed at the July 11th faculty meeting, APC recently met to discuss potential new NRFs for the Salk and have recommended the four candidates listed below. In line with the Salk appointment and promotion guidelines ApCom must now vote on each potential NRF and submit the recommendations prior to a Full Faculty vote. Note that the potential NRFs listed below are not in competition with one another, so you should vote on each candidate independently of the others.

Doug Green St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/research/labs/green-lab.html
Titia de Lange, Rockefeller University https://www.rockefeller.edu/our-scientists/heads-of-laboratories/871-titia-de-lange/
Steve Mayo, Caltech https://www.mayo.caltech.edu
Eva Nogales, Berkeley https://vcresearch.berkeley.edu/faculty/eva-nogales

Please send an email to apcom at salk.edu<mailto:apcom at salk.edu> with your vote for each of these candidates by this Friday, July 21st.

Thank you very much for your prompt attention to this.

Thank you,
John

Please specify exactly what we are voting for. We should only be voting for actual candidates, not for backups. Backups should be voted on separately if/when needed.

Note that the potential NRFs listed below are not in competition with one another, and a backup has been identified should they decline. The four names (and their backups) are:

  * Doug Green (St. Judes; backup is Dan Littman, NYU)
  * Titia de Lange (Rockefeller; backup is Anne Brunet, Stanford)
  * Steve Mayo (Caltech; backup is Steve Quake, Stanford)
  * Eva Nogales (Berkeley). Should E. Nogales decline, APC will discuss a backup

Please submit your vote for each of these candidates and their backups by this Friday, July 21st.

Thank you very much for your prompt attention to this.

Cheers,

Tom (on behalf of ApCom Chairs, John & Tanya)
